Okay, basically this blog has come about because of our mutual love of junk, found objects, recycled objects, garbage, tat and various non-scrapbooking stuff that we like to use on our layouts. There aren't any real limits and we don't care much for rules either!
We figured that if we love to use this kind of stuff on layouts, then maybe some of you do too! And then we thought that maybe there are scrappers out there who'd like to have a go at incorporating those elements into their scrapping but lack inspiration on how to use them. Maybe you're just looking for new ideas, a new way to look at your scrapping or you're a scary challenge blog stalking nutbag - all of the above are okay with us!!!
Everyday Garbage will run pretty much as your average challenge blog:
- a new challenge will go up each Tuesday on a fortnightly basis, starting with our launch challenge on Tuesday 18th September 2007 but don't hold us to first thing Tuesday morning as we have lots of kids between us - you know how it goes!
- the contributors share the job of choosing topics but if you have any cool or fab ideas then we'd love you to drop us an email so we can incorporate our Garbage Girls' ideas as well
- we will choose one layout from each challenge to receive a RAK as a thank you for playing with us (if you love Marah Johnson then you're going to totally love our first RAK - yummies from her new Rock Star Collection and don't tell us you haven't been waiting for that!!!!)
- the RAK winner will be revealed usually same day as the new challenge goes up
- if you would like to have your layout displayed on our slideshow of entries then email it to us but make sure you squish it first otherwise our email server will say "No Gary No"
- you can also link your layout to your blog or gallery through the comments section if you like - we don't mind if you do both either
- if you have any questions please drop us an email as we're all in this challenge blog thing together and we're learning as we go along
So that's basically it as far as guidelines go.
Over the course of the challenges we'll have guest Garbage Girls to join us and we'll be picking them from scrappers who join in the challenges with us each fortnight. Sometime we'll have surprise Garbage Girls too - fine, upstanding, well-known scrappers that you never would have suspected like to play with garbage!
If you are feeling the vibe and like the sound of things so far then go get yourself a blinkie to put on your blog and proudly declare that you like to play with garbage too!! We hope people will enjoy the challenges and that it will help to evolve your style and make you really reconsider what you can put on a layout. I know we're all going to learn something along the way too and we're so excited to be getting our first challenge ready for you!
C'mon! Come join the Garbage Girls - we'll see you Tuesday 18th September!
